I don’t know about you, but winter doesn’t do much for my creative spirits. Yes, I love sitting inside and getting my hygge on with my candles and electric lap blanket (don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it, peeps!), but, basically, I just want to hibernate at this time of year (or move to Miami), so my writing brain pretty much turns to wool.

Feeling a bit blah? Then join #writingmojomarch!

Along with this seasonal funk, we also have a world gone crazy. I don’t have to mention any names, but bad, bad things are happening in the political realm right now and I know they are getting a lot of us down. It can be hard enough to keep writing whilst working, raising a family, dealing with money or health issues – the whole raft of stuff that life brings our way – or even due to our own self-doubts, but then there’s this hunk of meanness tearing everything good apart like an orange Godzilla … Facing all this, it’s easy to think creativity doesn’t matter and to just withdraw from the world in order to protect our hearts.

But as the wonderful Brene Brown has pointed out – as humans we need to be vulnerable and we need to be connected, even if that takes an act of courage. We need more connection, not less, for that’s how we thrive. Indeed, we need creativity to confront the world’s shifting problems and to touch each other and realise our common ground. We need community and caring more than ever before.

That’s why I’m launching the #writingmojomarch writing challenge on March 6th. It’s not much in terms of the big stuff that’s coming our way, but it’s what I can do as a writer and coach to bring us scribes a little closer when a maniac is trying to build walls between us.

It’s what I can do to inject some positivity and inspiration into the world, to help people feel connected and creative again after a long winter which has seen so many scary changes. It’s what I can do to help people tussle with the inner creative demons that stop them being the writers they were born to be, such as self-criticism and perfectionism, or the soul bruises that rejection and criticism of our work can cause.

I’ll be sending out ten emails over two weeks (weekdays only) which will offer insights, encouragement and practical exercises to get you feeling inspired and productive again and ready to take spring by storm!

There is also be a private Facebook group which you can join to share your work and responses to each day’s emails with a community of fellow writers. I’ll also be there daily to offer support as we all progress through this writing challenge together.

This gal has got her #writingmojomarch back!

And that’s the real point of this challenge – that we do life and creativity together. That we join hands now and move forward in this raggedy, strange world, but with the joy of our creativity to make us stronger.

I want this writing challenge to give your creative mojo back and thaw you out after a long winter!

I look forward to meeting you in the Facebook group or via sharing the hashtag #writingmojomarch on social media. I’d love to see your writing or images of your process online!

Join up now by simply popping your email in the dropdown box at the top of the page or in the sign up box below!

See you on March 6th when we get our #writingmojomarch back!
