I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world – Neil Gaiman

Happy New Year, my lovelies!

I’ve been quiet as I took a much needed few weeks off over Christmas.

Now I’m back to helping women’s writing dreams come true and smashing the patriarchy in between petting my cat, Muse, reading and listening to lots of audiobooks which are bringing me so much comfort in this cosy season, and thinking about my literary and personal goals for 2019.

I’d love to hear what your creative hopes and plans are for the year ahead, so please comment below and let me know!

Mine are to do a final draft of my literary crime novel, Low Tide, which is currently with my own novelist mentor (eek!) and to get a new agent and book deal, as well as finishing my NASA novel and embarking on the memoir which is finally seeming to want to be written. I’m also going to be writing more pieces for Confluence Daily after my first  feminist personal essay got a great response from readers.

In terms of your writing plans though, if you’re beginning a new project, I can help with brainstorming sessions (I can get that plot or book structure untangled!) or if you’re struggling to find time to write, I can help create a writing practice which suits your energy and lifestyle and won’t kill you! (Only self-love allowed here!)

I also offer a more intense support programme if you want longer-term help to finally start writing your book.

I also can support you to write a novel, memoir or non-fiction book proposal if that’s what’s brewing.

Or I can help you navigate the emotional rollercoaster which is the submission process, assessing your novel and submission package so it’s in tip top shape or editing it for you and holding your hand as you send out your stuff to the industry.

I absolutely believe in getting more women’s books written, published and out there changing the world.

And this year I am going to make sure I do my best to make that happen.

If you’d like to chat to me about your writing and have a little pep talk, you can book a free 30 minute session with me.

I love talking to other writers and I promise you will come away with more confidence and a surer direction than you had before.

It’s part of the way I walk my talk as a feminist writing coach, allowing as many women as possible to access support.

Oh, and in case you didn’t know, I’m also taking scholarship applications to work with me for free for a year until the end of February.

I’m also planning a month-long online community project in March called All Writers Should be Feminists, featuring daily essays from new and established voices and I shall be sending out details about how to get involved nearer the time.

The Feminist Writing School (based on Judy Chicago’s feminist art school founded in the 70s), which will feature online and in-person workshops and retreats, will also be opening this spring too and I cannot tell you how excited I am to get started as I miss teaching so much! It’ll also be another way to get support for your writing outside of my 1-1 coaching.

So here’s to using our voices and our talents this year to make our lives happier and this world a better place.

And, as lovely Neil Gaiman says in the quote above, it’s more than okay to make mistakes as it shows we’re truly living and the truth is that creativity also involves experimentation and failure on the road to success – so let’s not worry about writing perfectly in 2019, but just that we are writing and it’s bringing us joy.

Wishing you all good things in 2019!
