I recently discussed on here how Julia Cameron advocates creatives taking a weekly Artist’s Date in order to help keep the well of inspiration full and I suggested how it can help you stay encouraged to take these fun outings when times get tough. Last week, on a beautifully blue-skied Monday, I decided to take some of my own advised medicine and I took myself off to Worthing Pier with my lovely Nikon. I had a fabulous afternoon – the most fun I’ve had in ages! – and I wanted to share with you just how joyful and revved up it left me feeling in order to spur you to do the same! Even a sneaky half and hour trip to a park in our lunchbreak can stir our creative spirits, if we don’t have time for a full afternoon’s outing. I think my pictures show what an amazing time I had! Weirdly enough, my new novel – which I’ve almost completed the first draft of – is called Low Tide and features a pier, so it’s all grist for the literary mill! Some shots are pretty much as they came out of the camera and some I played around with.

Enjoy the photos! I’d love to see some of your own of your Artist’s Dates! Feel free to share your experiences or ask questions in the comments.
