I’M NOT JUST HERE TO HELP YOU CREATE A BOOK.
I’M CREATING A MOVEMENT TO GET MORE WOMEN’S BOOKS WRITTEN, PUBLISHED AND OUT THERE CHANGING THE WORLD.
WE’RE GOING TO BE SHATTERING THE LITERARY GLASS CEILING, ONE BOOK AT A TIME.
I HOPE YOU WILL JOIN ME.
NOW’S THE TIME FOR YOUR BOOK TO BE WRITTEN.
I want to do all I can to help ALL of you – whatever age, sexuality, class, race, religion, health or disability level, including my trans sisters, non-binary folks and gay, bi and straight men who are also sick of the patriarchal BS! – to get your voices heard.
You have big things to say and I want to help you say them, loud and proud.
I believe we all need really great support to get our books done in a world where 97% of manuscripts aren’t ever finished (yikes!) and where, if you’re a woman, your chances of finding literary success are massively reduced by the proven gender bias of the literary world.
This means that, even though women make up the majority of those who seek editorial feedback and writing coaching and even though more women attend literary events, female authors are still less likely to be published than a guy (it makes sense why J.K. Rowling used her initials to avoid sexism, right?). Studies have shown too that women writers are also less likely to be reviewed if they do manage to make it into print (yikes!) and that you’re not really odds on favourites to win a major literary award either if you’re a female author (even writing ABOUT women can pretty much stop you getting a prize, research has shown – eek!). In fact, most authors aren’t even influenced by women writers, so we’re even robbed of a literary legacy (*shakes head*).
So we women writers are screwed, right?
Yes, and no.
Although this might be the state of play right now and the gender dynamics of the literary world might not be within our power (not yet, anyway!), I do believe we can make a difference if we stick together and support each other.
I believe too that I can make a difference for my women clients and increase the odds of them achieving their literary dreams – whether that’s publishing a novel, a moving memoir, or a coaching, healing or business book which blows the doors off the tired old ideas of that field and makes that author a thought leader, boosting their business and credibility overnight.
So whether you’re just starting to out and you want someone to help you plan your book and set up a writing routine in the midst of a crazy busy life …
Or you’re already writing your book and need support to stay on track …
Or you’ve completed your book and you now need assistance to polish it to perfection …
Or you need professional guidance and handholding as you go through the submission process …
I’VE GOT YOUR BACK.
AND I’M GOING TO HELP YOU PLAY EFFING BIG.
YES, IT’S TIME TO WRITE YOUR BOOK.
I’M SHARON ZINK and I’ve been working as a writer my entire life (I was Young Poet of the Year, Writers Inc. Writer of the Year, and my first novel, Welcome to Sharonville, was longlisted for The Guardian First Book Award and is currently being pitched as a TV series), so I know a thing or two about how to get this word shiz done.
On top of that, I’ve got a Ph.D. in English (I studied at London and Cambridge) and, since leaving academic life, I’ve worked as an editor with literally hundreds of writers, some of which are now bestselling authors (complete with billboards at train stations!) and others have got multi-book deals with major houses. A few have even gone on to successfully self-publish their work and become big hits on Amazon. I’m also a Martha Beck-trained coach. You can read more about me here.
I want us women writers to rise together and shatter the literary glass ceiling, one book at a time.
Does that sound like a good idea to you?
No, this is not just about creating a book.
We’re creating a movement.
A movement to get more women’s books written, published and out there changing the world.
